The extravagant skull of the Corum Bubble watch gets a new coat
The latest model of the Bubble watch, called the Bubble 47 X-Ray, pays homage to the first watch in this collection from 2000. From the start, it included a model with a human skull. The Bubble's eccentrically round design was then coveted by many collectors looking for an unusual watch. And you should keep your eyes peeled here too. Only 88 of these will be made with the latest skull.
For decades, the Corum brand has been at the forefront of luxury watchmaking. The iconic Bubble collection has become a legend among men's luxury watches thanks to its bold design and technical excellence. The new Bubble 47 X-Ray pushes the boundaries of extravagant watches even further.
Obsessed with life and death
Severin Wunderman only escaped Nazi persecution as a child by his parents' lucky decision to hide him with a priest in an institution for blind children. This was probably the reason that he was, in the watchmaking company's own words, '...obsessed with life and death and the concept of Dia de Muertos, a celebration in which friends or family gather to honour the dead in a solemn way.'
Over the years, he has expressed this dark obsession in several Corum Bubble watch designs, including the Bubble Jolly Roger, Bubble Lucifer, Bats, Nightflyer and others.

Watchmaking as art
Severin Wunderman was inspired by experimental diving watches from the 1960s for the shape of the Bubble watch. These were fitted with a massive domed sapphire crystal so that the watch could withstand the pressure of deep ocean waters. It was this unusual feature that made the Bubble instantly famous. With this model, Corum defined a whole new category of extravagant watches that combine technical precision with artistic expression.
The Corum brand has long been one of the leading manufacturers of luxury men's watches, and the new Bubble X-Ray only confirms this status. Every detail of this extravagant watch has been carefully considered - from the unique dial design to the choice of the highest quality materials.
Master craftsmanship of an extravagant watch
The new Corum Bubble X Ray returns to typical Wunderman themes with a dial featuring a stylized skull that we see as if we were viewing it on an X-ray.
As always, the Bubble's typically domed double sapphire crystal distorts its image slightly. The skull is luminous and glows green in the dark, giving it an unearthly appeal. Everything is finished off with a synthetic strap with fluorescent green stitching.
Each example of this men's luxury watch is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship. Corum Bubble watches excel in precision, and the X-Ray model is no exception. The sapphire crystal is more than just a design element - it represents the pinnacle of contemporary watchmaking technology.
Technical specifications of this luxury men's watch
Corum has blackened the entire steel case of the watch with a PVD finish. On the underside, however, the sapphire crystal has allowed the enthusiast of unconventional watchmaking pieces to admire the automatic movement of the CO 082 movement with a power reserve of 42 hours and a frequency of 4Hz inside. Both the front and back slides are coated with an anti-reflective layer. This iconic watch is now offered in a 47mm size.
For connoisseurs, the Corum Bubble X-Ray represents a unique opportunity to own a piece of watchmaking history. The limited edition of just 88 pieces guarantees exclusivity and the potential to become a sought-after collector's piece. In the extravagant watch segment, this model represents the absolute pinnacle of Corum's current production.
Corum's heritage
Corum's history is full of innovation and bold design solutions. The Bubble collection, however, represents a special chapter in the story of this prestigious watchmaking manufacture. Since its launch in 2000, the Corum Bubble has become synonymous with bold and extravagant timepieces that go beyond conventional design.
The X-Ray model confirms that even after more than two decades, the Bubble collection can still bring fresh and innovative perspectives to luxury watchmaking. For collectors of men's luxury watches, this model is a unique opportunity to expand the collection with a truly exceptional piece.
