The right length of the bracelet determines not only how comfortable the bracelet will be to wear, but also how elegant it will look on your wrist.

How to choose the ideal bracelet length

The first step to selecting the ideal bracelet length is to accurately measure the circumference of your wrist. To measure, you will only need a tailor's tape measure or string and a ruler. Always measure at the widest point of the wrist, just below the wrist bone where the bracelet naturally rests. Place the tape measure close to the skin, but do not press. If using string, mark where the ends meet and then measure the length with a ruler.

TIP: For maximum accuracy, measure your wrist in the evening, when it tends to be slightly swollen.

Add 1.5 to 2.5 cm to the measurement, depending on how loosely you want to wear the bracelet. Add 1.5 cm for a tighter fit, 2 cm is standard, and add up to 2.5 cm for a looser bracelet.

What are the standard lengths of luxury bracelets, with and without diamonds

In the luxury jewellery segment, which also includes gold bracelets, you will come across several standard lengths that correspond to different wrist sizes:

  • 16-17 cm - extra small size for very slender wrists
  • 17-18 cm - small size, most common for women's bracelets
  • 18-19 cm - medium size, universal for most women (most common)
  • 19-20 cm - large size, for fuller wrists or looser wear
  • 20-21 cm - extra large, often men's size

How to choose the length according to the type of bracelet

Different styles of bracelets require a different approach to choosing the length. Diamond-set tennis bracelets should fit snugly, but not tightly - ideally add 1.5-2 cm to the circumference of the wrist. This type of bracelet must not be too loose so that it does not roll over and the diamonds are always visible.

Chain bracelets allow for more freedom. Here you can experiment with the length according to personal preference. For an elegant look, choose a length 2 cm longer than the circumference of your wrist, or up to 3 cm for a more casual style.

Fixed banglebracelets are a special category. They must go over the hand, so it is important to measure not only the wrist, but also the widest part of the hand across the knuckles. The bracelet should be large enough to go over the hand, but not so loose that it falls off.

How to choose the ideal bracelet length

How the length of a women's bracelet affects your appearance

The right bracelet length can visually lengthen or shorten your arm. A bracelet that is too tight can visually widen the wrist, while one that is too loose does not look elegant and can get tangled in the sleeves of your clothes.

A wristband should stay in the wrist area during normal movement, and should not slide down to the palm of the hand or move too high on the forearm. The ideal wristband allows you to slip your pinky finger underneath - no more, no less.

For formal events, opt for a more fitted length to ensure the bracelet stays in the right place and complements your outfit perfectly. For everyday wear, choose a slightly looser version for maximum comfort.

How to choose the length when buying a bracelet as a gift

If you don't know your exact wrist size, there are a few tricks:

  • The average length of a women's bracelet is 18 cm.
  • Slim women usually wear 17-17.5 cm.
  • Fuller figures prefer 19-20 cm
  • If unsure, opt for a longer version instead, with the option of shortening.
